There was a study done on college students who as freshmen were having trouble[...]They all made a commitment to study at regular and specific times in a systematic way every night. One group kept that commitment in their heads. Another group wrote it down and kept it private. Another group wrote it down and showed it to everybody else in the room, and said, &amp;#39;Here&amp;#39;s what I promise that I&amp;#39;m going to do.&amp;#39;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;quot;The first two groups didn&amp;#39;t improve at all on their next test. But in the group that showed their public commitment to everybody else in the room, 86 percent got one full grade better...Eighty-six percent versus virtually nothing from the other groups because they made those commitments public.&amp;quot;</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6007320501812764218/8070768408039176769/comments/default/5114771871273684961'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6007320501812764218/8070768408039176769/comments/default/5114771871273684961'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://blog.nateschneider.com/2010/02/public-commitment.html?showComment=1266421118533#c5114771871273684961' title=''/><author><name>Nate Schneider</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/10566971472015747369</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='OpenSocialUserId' value='01354857346072631060'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://blog.nateschneider.com/2010/02/public-commitment.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6007320501812764218.post-8070768408039176769' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6007320501812764218/posts/default/8070768408039176769' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
